LIFE  PROGRAM ( Living In Family Environment  Program)

The LIFE Program is a service that functions in Elk and Cameron County Elementary and Middle Schools supporting students in Preschool through 8th grade.

Dickinson Mental Health Center currently has active
LIFE Programs in the following School Districts:

Cameron County Elementary School
Johnsonburg Elementary School
St. Marys Area Elementary & Middle Schools
St. Marys Catholic Elementary& Middle School

The LIFE  Program is a preventative school based program that provides goal-oriented services to at-risk students and their families for a four month period. At-risk students are those students experiencing behavioral, emotional and/or academic concerns. Referrals for this program can be made through the Instructional Support Team, Guidance Department, Principal or teachers within your school.  Referrals can also be made directly by a parent.

The LIFE Caseworkers provide:

* Classroom intervention

* Direct sessions with students

*Parent Education

*Collaboration with school staff

* Groups (i.e. Anger Management, Peer Relationship, Study Skills, Divorce and Separation and Bereavement)

The LIFE Program is funded through our Cameron/Elk-Mental Health/Mental Retardation, and contributions by participating school districts, thereby allowing this to be a free service to the families we support.
