Outpatient Services

A wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative services are available at D.M.H.C. outpatient facilities. These services are available to individuals of all ages and are provided by professional staff members with specialized experience, training and education to deal with specific needs of children, adolescents and adults.

The most commonly provided services by staff include individual therapy, family therapy, marital therapy and group therapy. Relaxation, stress reduction and biofeedback training are also provided. Medication, when needed to assist individuals in reducing symptoms, is exclusively provided by the psychiatrists, who prescribe and monitor effectiveness.

Request for services are evaluated by a mental health professional who can assist the referring source in determining the appropriateness of outpatient services. The Center prides itself in maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with the state and federal regulations and laws governing confidentiality.

Service Planning/Case Management

This is a series of coordinative staff activities to determine with the client what services are needed and to coordinate their timely provision by the provider and other resources in the community. Service activities include:

- thorough exploration of service needs and discussion with the client of available and acceptable service options

- arrangement for the provision of needed medical, functional, psychological, psychiatric, social or vocational diagnostic assessments

- preparation of a written service plan developed in cooperation with, and agreed to by,    the client

- prompt arrangement for delivery of the requested services, taking into account the client's choice of service provider, if possible

- liaison with all providers serving the client

- personal advocacy, if needed, to ensure the satisfactory delivery of services

- monitoring of the continuity and continued appropriateness of services

- Follow-up to ensure client satisfaction and to offer additional services as needed

Emergency Services

Availability on emergency basis for crisis counseling via walk-in or telephone. Mobile outreach emergency service including home/school visits during business hours. Coordination/consultation re crisis situations with police, hospitals, jail, Psychiatric physicians including arranging of transportation. Processing of 302 emergency petitions and oversight of delegate responsibilities under MH Procedures Act.
