We are looking for
individuals who may be interested in becoming trained as a Certified Peer
Specialist in Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, Jefferson & Potter
Counties.
To be eligible individuals must
meet the following criteria:
Attend the necessary training,
which will include a two week non-consecutive training most likely will be out
of this area.
We are not sure when the
training will be but trying to get an idea on interested candidates.
Individuals must also be able
to pass the DMHC Clearances Act 33 & Act 34 and Department of Motor Vehicle
Checks (DMV).
Peer Specialist Services
are intended to assist individuals to direct their own mental health recovery
and advocacy process.
The Peer Specialist will is
a self-identified individual who has received or is receiving state priority
group services as defined in MH Bulletin OMH-94-04 Serious Mental Illness: Adult
Priority Group, and who:
(i) Has a high school
diploma or GED; and
(ii) Within the past three (3)
years, has maintained at least 12 months of successful
Full or Part Time paid or voluntary work experience or has completed the
Peer
Specialist Certification Training Curriculum (including obtained at least
24
credit hours of post secondary education; and
(iii) Has and/or will complete the
written certification examination approved by
the Department; and
(iv) Has reliable transportation and
current insurance coverage.
